Nemo???

So my friends decided to go white water rafting down the Hoback this summer. I was planning on going, but with my back feeling the way it does, I decided not to. They had an experience where they were going down the river and the boat hit a flat rock. The boat just stopped. Don and Suzie were both thrown from the boat. Don was thrown down the river, but Suzie went under the boat. She tells me that she wasn't panicked because she knew the boat would move off of her. (She was pinned between the boat and the rock) The ones in the boat were holding the boat in place so the didn't run over Suzie when she popped up. When she didn't pop up, they realized she was stuck under the boat. They moved forward and Suzie popped up where they could pull her in. She was so calm when she came up that they asked if she was breathing. Suzie was under water for longer than a normal person could hold their breath. She said she didn't feel panicked, and knew she'd be okay. After they picked up Don and Suzie and continued on their way, they started teasing Suzie that she is Nemo, because she just had to touch the bottom of the butt. While that part is funny, I appreciate the lesson learned. Suzie has said many times that she knows there was someone helping her to hold her breath. She held her breath at home and timed it. She couldn't hold it for even a minute.

While I was back home, I knew my friends were on the river, and was worried all day. Recently a member of my parent's ward drowned in the same river. I was nervous because of that experience. At one point, I decided that I needed to be calm so I said a prayer that they would be safe. I felt peace and immediatly knew things would be alright. I have no idea if my prayer coincided with the experience Suzie had, but I'm grateful for the protection my friends had that day, and the peace I was given. I have learned a lot from this experience, and know how important it is to listen to the Spirit.
