Navoo Trip, June 2009

This is a picture of a sunset in the little town of Fort Madison, Iowa.... Just across the Mississippi from Nauvoo....
We went on a riverboat ride... It was really fun, and worth the money to say I've been on a riverboat. :)
Carthage...
At Carthage... a beautiful statue of the Prophet Joseph and his brother, Hyrum.
Here we are right before our wagon ride. The slobber from the oxen was out of control.... I'm trying to look happy, and stay out of the way of the flying slobber... Yeeeesh!!!
This are the headstones for Joseph, Hyrum and Emma. This obviously wasn't the original burial plot, but they were eventually moved here after all of the contention died down...
Dad and I in front of Joseph's Red Brick store
Here we are waiting to see "Sunset on the Mississippi". It was so great. It was one of my favorite things from the trip.
We did a temple session as soon as we could while there. It was beautiful. I loved the spirit I felt and the peace.
My Great Great Grandpa, Oliver Norton Harmon was a member of the Mormon Battalion. We found his name at Winter Quarters, and the Kansville Tabernacle.
Ahhhh, the beautiful sunsets!!!
Here we are in front of the Kanesville Tabernacle. This is where Brigham Young was sustained as the second president of the church.

I loved going to Nauvoo this summer. It was such a faith inspiring trip, and I learned so much. I'm grateful that mom and dad let me come, and for the chance I had to learn more about the Prophet Joseph. I can't wait to go back this coming summer with the entire family. It will be awesome.
