Palisades Cabin Weekend

So the very last weekend of March, my friends and I went to a cabin near Palisades. I rode up with Jody on Friday afternoon so we could get things set up and WARM before everyone else showed up. It was great. I did get stuck in my parents EXPLODER, but since it has 4 wheel drive, we were fine. There was quite a bit of snow up there and I'm so glad we took the exploder my little snowball of a car would never have made it up to the cabin (from the road). (since we blazed the trail to the cabin) DeeJay and Liz showed up right after us, so they helped us carry things in and DeeJay started a fire. It was so nice and peaceful. We've been to this cabin before and just love it. I had such a great time. We ate lots of yummy food, played games, teased Jody(which should be a funny email in the days to come-- and I can't wait!!), watched movies, and just basically lounged. It was so relaxing. I didn't really want to come home. Only a few things could've made it better... like the hot tub working, and me not being so cold... but I can't complain about that. It was just so great!!! We played cards (phase 10) and I kicked everyone's butts. It was great. And I wasn't a gracious winner either. I kind of rubbed it in, so I am doomed from here on out. I just love that game.
A pretty view near the gate to the cabin. It was so pretty, and it snowed most of the time, but it was the calm peaceful snow fall and not the blizzardy snow fall (until we left for home)

Here's a picture of Jody and Bert. They are making a salad for dinner on Saturday night. I decided that I had a lot of pictures of the scenery, but not the people were were there with. The food was yummy and Jody did a great job of planning the menu and executing the making of the food.
Max, Suzie, and Sherma playing "Catch Phrase". I had been playing too, but took a break to take pictures. None of them will look at the camera for me though. Oh well.... I'll take what I can get.
This picture definitely had to be documented. Here is Max eating a cookie. He would argue that he is just holding up a cookie that someone bit into and it doesn't prove that he was eating the cookie. I just want to point out that I would never just take a picture of Max holding someone elses half eaten cookie. Makes no sense. :) So since Max is a bit annorexic, I decided to show that he did eat. It has only happened a few times that he has eaten anything I have made. (He didn't realize it, but just because Jody baked the cookies doesn't mean she made the dough....I did!! Heee heeee) He also ate dinner with us and had a piece of peach or strawberry pie later that night as well. At least he didn't feel he had to hide his eating from me like the time with the pizza at my apartment. YES Max, I caught you!!!
Me and the pretty view from the front porch looking out on the lake.
Ahhhhh! Beautiful and peaceful!!
One of my favs!! It was relaxing to be at the cabin. Just look at the peace and serenity. Sigh!!!

My Library

I have been collecting books since before my mission. I didn't really get into the swing of it though until after my mission. I became OBSESSED with reading. It is very relaxing to me and I think I have OCD when it comes to my books. I can't help it. If I don't have a book around when its stressful, I get more stressed. I can't explain it, but that's the way it is. So I have been collecting books for a little more than 10 years. I have been given several bookshelves and I soon grow out of it and need a new one. I got a bookshelf for Christmas that was very needed. I have had books sitting around in piles all over my office and basically just driving me crazy. So since it was Spring Break weekend... (and it was snowing like crazy-- doesn't sound like Spring does it??) I decided to redo my library and make it look more like a library. I started on Thursday afternoon after going to the temple with Suzie Thompson. I worked on it the rest of the day. I am so happy it is done. (At least until I get more books, which will happen soon, because I've already ordered a few) I finished it on Friday around 4 pm, and was exhausted. Hopefully the only other time I have to move the library is to move into a house I will live in for the rest of my life. I have got to rest before moving all of these books again!! Exhausting!!! I also decided that I might as well cataloge the rest of the new books which meant I had to go through each book and see if I'd already put it into the computer. It took awhile, but worth it, if I know where my books are when I lend them out. :)
This is a picture of me soon after the library was finished. I just wanted to show how happy I was to be finished.
Here are some of the books laying on the floor waiting for me to go through them on my computer.
Same thing, just looking from a different angle. You'll see my computer sitting there on the card table. It was nice to have the card table. While I cataloged (sp) Jody came over and we watched Gilmore Girls season 7. SO GOOD!! It was nice to have something good to watch while I worked on my books.
An angle of the finished project!!
"AAAAHHHHHHHH... isn't it pretty???" That's what I say each time I walk into the LIBRARY!! (no longer called my office) It is looking more like a library each time I see it. Like Chris says... "Rich people have libraries!" Maybe this is a step in the right direction. (not that I want to be 'rich', but I'd like to not have to worry about where I'm getting my money for bills etc. (soapbox)

Building My Bookshelf

I got a bookshelf for Christmas this last year, and it's taken me awhile, but I finally built it. I decided to be really organized and lay each piece in a separate spot so I wouldn't accidently put it together wrong. I followed the instructions, pulled out my tool box and got to work. This shows the progress of the process. I think it turned out beautiful. The only thing I did different from the instructions was to use a nail gun to put the back on instead of the 60 + nails I was supposed to use. I am good with a nail gun and decided my time was very precious. It was a good day. It looks awesome!!!
